Cellular One is the brand name utilized by MTPCS, LLC. The Cellular One name is a trademarked brand that is licensed to cellular service providers throughout the United States and Bermuda.
MTPCS began operation in Montana in 2005 with the acquisition of the wireless assets of Blackfoot Communications, 3 Rivers Communications, and additional spectrum assets from Summit Wireless. We expanded, improved, and relaunched the service under the brand name “Chinook Wireless” in Montana and a portion of northern Wyoming. In early 2008, MTPCS acquired additional wireless operations in Texas and Oklahoma. MTPCS retained the Cellular One brand in Texas and Oklahoma and rebranded in Montana and Wyoming as Cellular One. Today, we operate in all of our markets as Cellular One.
MTPCS d/b/a “Cellular One” utilizes GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) technology, which is the most widely adopted wireless standard in the world. We are the only wireless provider to offer GSM technology to customers across Montana. Because of this technology choice, our customers enjoy the benefit of having access to the wireless networks of AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as numerous other GSM carriers across the country.
